This project which originally started out a my journey to become a better photographer, has morphed into a walk through my everyday life. It's my chance to capture the beauty in my ever hectic, sometimes crazy daily life as a working mama of two beautiful kids, a devoted though at times crazy wife, and a amateur photographer.

2/26/2011 - Growing like a tree
We attended a friend's 2 year old birthday party at the CuriOdyssey. Finn thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals and the cool science experiments. He also spend some time running around the mini outdoor amphitheater. Funny to see him growing so big and cool to see him bravely exploring on his own.

2/22/2011 - I can do this
Today many breakthroughs have been had.
1) The weather is gorgeous!!!
2) I had a Costco outing with the little bean all by myself and we both survived.
3) I had a solo outing in the afternoon without either of the kids (thanks to my amazing in-laws) and everybody survived.
What I've realized is that I need to just slow down, breathe and enjoy this ride. There is no way I can enjoy life spending all my time worrying about everybody's wellbeing, when I am not taking care of my own wellbeing. All the energy that I expend on this worry is not going to solve anything.
Just taking the time out of my day to go walk through the neighborhood, I ran into 4 people that I know (my two neighbors and two coworkers), enjoyed a nice afternoon coffee and treat and was hit on by a friendly older gentleman. I think this was all I needed to snap out of it. I have been in this postpartum funk lately and today was my breakthrough.
Each day, I am going to wake up, eat good food, play with my kids and enjoy this time. I am never going to get this quality time back, so I will just take everything day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, second by second.

2/20/2011 - Succulent raindrops
Today was our first break in the weather for a past week. It's been rainy and icky all week. We took this as our opportunity to get Finny out in the carport area to get out his yaya's and I got some cool pics of our neighbors succulents after the rain. Tricky to try to capture water. Most of my other pics were blurry. This one turned out pretty decent.

2/17/2011 - Sleeping Baby
Liam is getting to be quite spoiled like his older brother. He sleeps like a champ when he is held in someone's arms. Today, I keep trying to set him down to sleep on his own and after about 15-20 minutes he awakens and cries until someone picks him up. Seconds after he is picked up, he knocks back out again. I need to just let him cry it out, but I keep reminding myself that they are only this little once and we will most likely not be having another one, so I should enjoy this while I can.

2/11/2011 - Beach Day
Love CA for the great weather. In the middle of February, it is warm enough to head to the beach. Some people were actually sunbathing. Finn enjoyed building and destroying sandcastles and finding and then burying seashells. It was so cute. Finn was so excited to be finding the shells and then so excited to hide them again.

2/9/2011 - Couch Potatoes
It's funny how you forget so much of the first couple weeks of new parenthood. I remembered the lack of sleep. I remember the crying. I remember the spitup. But I didn't remember how much time you spend just sitting on the couch holding the baby. Jesse and I take turns holding Mr. Liam while he sleeps peacefully in our arms. Funny how he sleeps best when he is being held. I have tried to put him down in the packnplay and on the couch for naps, but so far in the first 2 weeks, the naps never last as long as naps snuggled in his parents' arms. I got almost 6 hours straight out of him from last night until this morning.

2/8/2011 - I can do it!!!
Finn is getting quite accustomed to his role as Big Brother. Everything is "I can do it." "Let me help." "I do it myself." Though for most things, it is quite cute to have him do it himself, sometimes it seems a little scary to have him do it. Finn is pretty fixated on the camera and with the money that we spent on it, I would hate for there to be an accident as he insists on taking pictures. So far, so good. Sometimes you just have to trust your kid and let them try things out. Maybe not quite yet though.
