2/27/2013 - A baby no more

Sometimes when I look at Liam, I forget that he is 2 years old and no longer a baby. I don't see the changes because I see him everyday. Suddenly the baby face is gone and I have another toddler. I am mourning the passing of the baby stage. Who wants to bring me a little baby to hold??

All on his own, Finn took his black marker and wrote his name on his cup of water. According to Finn, that is what Jiichan always does to be able to differentiate whose water cup is whose. See Jiichan, these kids totally listen to you.

Liam has been extra snuggly lately. Maybe he realizes that our nighttime snuggles will be going away now that he has his own big boy bed. He was face nuzzling me tonight and it was pretty sweet. Love my sweet LiLi.

Finn and the neighbors played a bit of softball this afternoon. We need to work on his swing a bit, he swings like he is smashing a spider on the ground. But he looks so cute doing it.

We had a busy and fun Saturday. It started out with a photo session in our bedroom because of the perfect lighting and the perfect children. Notice Liam's party boy hairdo. He rocked the fauxhawk most of the day. I think it fits his personality perfectly.

Next we headed to Finn's Gymnastics class. I absolutely love watching him in this class. He is one of the older kids and seems to be doing great. He loves having his old soccer buddy in class, They are total goofballs.

Liam's very favorite game ever is Horsey. He mounts everyone and begs them to carry him around. It is not so bad except that he likes to ride around with the arms in the air and almost refuses to hang on. Why must our cowboy be so wild??

While Mama filed our 2012 taxes and papa played defense with the Liam, Finn was a photographer. He had gotten a hold of my camera and was taking all sorts of cool pictures. Cool perspective. Maybe we will have a new family photographer!

2/17/2013 - Brunch with B & J

Beth and Juan met up with us on their way to Tahoe to have a little Sunday Morning Brunch. Always great to catch up with them even if it is for a short time. I feel lucky to have kidless friends that love and appreciate my kids nonetheless. Uncle Juan took Liam on multiple walks to look at the monkey paintings on the wall.

2/16/2013 - Solo Time with Liam

I got some solo time with my Liam. It was Papa's turn to bring Finny to gymnastics, so I got to hang out with my little charmer of a 2 year old. We did some basic Saturday Morning errands and then just hung out. He flirted with the employees of Trader Joe's. He got us a free pastry at Arizmendi. He once again reminded me why I enjoy solo time with each boy. It allows me to get to know them again without the distraction of their other brother.

2/15/2013 - Love Tattoos

Finny got tattooed today at school, along with all of his buddies. I love that these temporary tattoos are such a hot item at their school. They represent good behavior, reward and celebration for him and his classmates. A few weeks ago Finn made a bad decision at school and was splashing in the puddle with his school friends and was not allowed to get a tattoo. He was devastated for days. Small rewards for good behavior.

What a lovely day it was! Sweet thoughtful cards and gift from my love. Goodies from my coworkers. Ending the night with dinner out with the fam. Finny asked me if I would be his Valentine. I love this kid. He is going to be the best boyfriend ever someday. Heck he is best boyfriend ever right now.

I did an impulse last minute Valentine's day splurge for the boys by buying them sunglasses. I bought a pair of aviators for Finn and some fake Ray Bans for Liam. The boys at first resisted trying them on, but at last gave in and posed for a couple awesome shots. All of the photos of Liam are blurry though. That kid is always in motion. And yes, I did give them their Valentine's Day gifts early, I love them too much to wait the extra 2 days.

We had a zoo outing today with some friends. I swear the Oakland Zoo never gets old. We always have a fun time even if we have visited a gazillion times. The membership is the best gift we have ever received. Our wild boys had a fantastic time running around the zoo and pointing out all the cool animals. hiding in the bamboo forest, jumping on the lilypads and making faces at the reptiles. Enjoyable day today.

2/9/2013 - Pumping it Up

We attended another party for one of Finn's classmates at Pump It Up. It was super fun. A small group of really sweet kids, most of whom I knew already from school. I was chatting with one of the moms there and we were amazed at how big the kids are getting, Our kids are all heading off the Kindergarten next year, which is both an exciting and scary prospect. I will really miss some of these kids as they will all be splitting off to different schools. It will be interesting to see if any preschool kids end up in Elementary with Finn. Fun day all around today.

Jesse had a work event tonight, so I got some solo mommy time with my boys. Even though it is harder without Jesse there to help, I really enjoyed my evening with my busy boys. I find that as Finny gets older, he can really help us out with lots of things. Tonight, it was his job to wipe off the table, vacuum up the dinner crumbs, and then spray the cleaning solution on the table. He loves having jobs. He also loves being in charge of Liam. He is an amazing big brother. Liam is a fantastic little brother too. They are two lovely smiley kids.

Finn''s class each constructed a paper body with the organs attached in mostly the correct place. I can't wait to take this piece home. This will definitely be a keeper! So cool the things that the kids are doing in class.

I love and I hate this picture. The camera filter on this makes this picture look so dark and creepy. Finn is not dark and creepy. But I love this picture because it is my sweet boy who loves Spiderman and is adoring his new dress up clothes from his cousins.

After a long week of work, I enjoyed a couple glasses of wine with the neighbors and we ended the night with pull ups on our head. It felt nice to let loose after a stressful time a work. Silly mama and her silly kids.

We have been so lucky to have Nana & Gramps helping out for the past few weeks. They took the kids on fun outings to the Zoo and the Lawrence Hall of Science. They took care of pick ups and drop offs. They gave Jesse and I a date night out. They made delicious food for us. Tonight we had our parting meal and then dropped them at the airport. We were sad to part, but at some point we all have to head back to our normal lives. Millions of thanks go to them for all of their help and love!
